Prevention
Never touch anything electrical with wet hands or while standing in water.
Wear rubber shoes in wet areas.
If you get a tingle or shock when touching a sink, tub, or other wet area, turn off the power at the main panel (if it’s safe) and immediately call an electrician.
Don’t use frayed or broken cords or plug in anything with a missing prong.
Cover unused outlets. Keep metal objects such as silverware away from outlets.
Don’t overload sockets.
Use a power board with a safety switch and only use one per wall outlet.
When unplugging, don’t yank! Pull by the plug, not the cord.
Don’t run cords under rugs or furniture.
Also keep them away from pets that like to chew.
Always clean the lint filter for your dryer.
If an item says “do not put in dryer“, trust the warning!
Test safety switches each year.
Don’t fly kites near power lines.
The kite or string can conduct electricity sending it right through you to the ground.
Never touch a downed power line or climb a utility pole.
Designated person to enter the detail in the accident book taking care to ascertain exactly what occurred.
Injuries which require the first aider to refer the injured person to hospital or to their doctor should be immediately notified to the senior company representative on site and notified to the company office by telephone.
In such cases the senior company representative, accompanied by a representative of the employees, must investigate all the circumstances of how the injury was sustained and a company accident investigation report completed.
The findings of the investigation will be examined by the senior company representative and the chief executive with the objective of identifying measures to avoid a repetition.
These control measures will be introduced after consultation by the senior representative with staff on site.
Injuries or incidents at work leading to ill health which result in an absence from work of more than 3 days must be notified to the Health and Safety Executive using form F2508 or form F2508A (obtainable from The Stationery Office). A copy of this document should be sent to the chief executive immediately.
Steps of this procedure should have already taken place but if they have not then they must be carried out immediately.
Injuries or incidents leading to ill health which are more serious than those mentioned above (including injuries leading to death) must be notified to the HSE immediately by the quickest possible means (i.e. by telephone).
This call must be followed by a written report on form F2508 or F2508A within seven days. (injuries specified as being reportable in this way are detailed under "other notification"). The chief executive must also be notified as soon as possible.
The accident location should be barriered off pending an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, which led to the injuries detailed at 9 above, by the company senior representative accompanied by a representative of the staff.
This investigation should include statements from all witnesses and any plant or equipment involved in the incident should not be touched nor moved until the investigation has been concluded.

First Aid
First aid is the first and immediate assistance given to any person suffering from either a minor or serious illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, or to promote recovery.
Basic principles, such as knowing the use of adhesive bandage or applying direct pressure on a bleed, are often acquired passively through life experiences. However, to provide effective, life-saving first aid interventions requires instruction and practical training.
Artificial Respiration or ventilation
Artificial respiration. Specialty. pulmonary. Artificial ventilation, (also called artificial respiration) is means of assisting or stimulating respiration, a metabolic process referring to the overall exchange of gases in the body by pulmonary ventilation, external respiration, and internal respiration.
Management of Electrical accident
Medical Therapy. Patients with electrical injury should be initially evaluated as a trauma patient. Airway, breathing, circulation, and inline immobilization of the spine should be performed as a part of primary survey. Maintain a high index of suspicion and evaluate for hidden injuries.
